TOWER London WIN Drapers Independent Footwear Retailer 2016

TOWER London has won the Drapers Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year Award 2016 — reclaiming the title the family business first won in 2014. The award, one of the most respected in British independent retail, was presented at the Drapers Footwear & Accessories Awards ceremony.

Here is what the judges had to say:

"Brothers Gerry and Yiannis Demopoulos have reclaimed the top spot that the family business won in 2014. In our judges' opinion, this London-based mini-chain has come on leaps and bounds and is making waves with the big boys in the industry.

Over the past year, Tower London has added a clutch of high-profile hires from larger firms including Sport Direct-owned USC, ASOS's Crooked Tongues and Author. These additions to Team Tower — which since 2013 has grown from 20 to 77 people — have improved efficiency, productivity and conversion.

The company has relocated its headquarters from Wood Green to Shoreditch, east London, and will this month open a concept store in nearby Brick Lane."

The move to Shoreditch and the imminent opening of the Brick Lane flagship marked the beginning of a new chapter. From a three-store North London operation to a Shoreditch-headquartered brand with 77 staff and industry recognition — 2016 was the year TOWER announced itself on a national stage.
