Meet Musical Collective R/Hood

Loai, a DJ-producer and content creator from Northwest London, specialises in seamless transitions between genres, pairing musical versatility with a signature, well-ordered sense of style.

Scotty is a DJ and MC from South London, specialising in a unique fusion of garage and funky house with high-energy sets — he supported Kurupt FM twice in 2022 alone.

Specialising in dance music, rhythm is the key ingredient in Freddie’s musical recipe. Hailing from East London, he blends new and classic tracks into twists that keep people moving — if they're not dancing, are they really vibing?

Drawing on his West African heritage, Selecta Suave is a household name in London’s nightlife — he thrives on delivering a diverse combination of sounds to any dance floor while staying true to what he loves.

Born and raised between North and East London, Chey is a multi-genre DJ of Caribbean and Indian descent — he digs through archival crates and uncovers the next wave before anyone else. While he loves the oldies, Chey specialises in UK rap and dancehall.

R/HOOD: When we collaborate as a group at R/Hood, we come together as strong-minded individuals — each doing incredible things across the city. When we unite, it's game over. We're focused and can create something special in any situation — whether we're DJing on the streets or at a festival, the vibes are there and we've got each other's backs. That's the most important thing.

TOWER: HOW DOES DR. MARTENS EMPOWER R/HOOD?

R/HOOD: Working with Dr. Martens helps R/Hood demonstrate what we stand for and showcase our talents — in the same way a Dr. Martens wearer feels empowered to shine, be their true self and perform at their best. It's about showing that to the world.

TOWER: HOW DO YOU STYLE YOUR DR. MARTENS?

R/HOOD: I either dress them up or dress them down — with high-quality trousers for a smarter look, or a hoodie for something more relaxed. You can pair them with a nice shirt and tie, or a denim jacket over a plain top to offset the colours and add balance.

TOWER: WHAT’S THE NEXT STEP FOR R/HOOD?
