PR(iD)E at TOWER: Meet Taali!

As one of London's fastest-growing independent retailers, with our headquarters situated right at the heart of the city's cultural hub, we believe it is TOWER's duty not just to support those thriving in our local community, but to create a platform for those driving positive change within it.

Representation matters. To mark 50 years of Pride events across the UK, TOWER handed complete creative control to Boss Lady (@BbyMilosWorld), who assembled a team of five LGBTQ+ visionaries — photographers, designers, artists, and poets — to capture exactly what it means to be queer and diverse within modern creative spaces.

There should be no limits to creativity, so why stop at footwear? We view collaborations like this as a way to push culture forward, amplifying the voices that shape style, politics, and community in equal measure.

Meet Taali

First to take the stage is @taalinotcharlie (they/she) — a queer-fluid, high-femme fairy. They are a host, gogo dancer, and speaker; part of the team at @queerhouseparty, co-leader of @dopeblackqueers, and co-founder of the Black queer-run catering company @healthy_filth.

Taali keeps their politics central to everything they do, campaigning for a wide range of issues while prancing around any stage in a thong — proudly owning the label "total slag". Their fierce visibility and commitment to community work are as much a part of their performance as their dance moves.

Why Dr. Martens?

"I picked the Dr. Martens Sinclair boot because they are sturdy AF — exactly what I need when I'm dancing and hosting on stage for hours, or standing all day cooking for my community. My style is camp, high-femme, and extravagantly fairy — covered in gems. Fashion is political for me; every time I step out as an unapologetically queer high femme, I feel empowered.

These boots are as much a functional pick as they are a style statement — built to outlast late nights and long shifts. They carry me through performance and labour, and they carry a confidence that's impossible to ignore."

TOWER champions creators like Taali because their style, politics, and craft remind us that footwear is never just footwear — it's armor, of-the-moment culture, and a declaration of belonging. Read the next instalment in the series: Meet Loreley.
