Drawing the line: what sets VEJA's V-10 apart from the V-12

As the saying goes, you can have too much of a good thing - but, at TOWER we don’t think that applies to French footwear brand VEJA.

Since preliminary ideas surfaced in 2003, VEJA has campaigned for better working conditions and a healthier planet, caring for workers, manufacturers and consumers alike. Two years later their first trainer hit shop floors and the brand went from strength to strength.

Design: V-10 vs V-12

However, today’s conversation centres on two silhouettes - the 10th Anniversary V-10 and 2017’s V-12. Both are similar yet distinct; here at TOWER we’re highlighting how they differ and why each sits high on everyone’s list. The distinctions are subtle but meaningful: small details in paneling and profile completely change how each model sits on the foot and how it reads in an outfit.

At first glance there’s very little separating the V-10 from its younger counterpart. We’d point to the V-12’s lace strip that dives beneath a thickset scuff-guard - dividing a single panel in two where the V-10 bears one. This is coupled with occasional branding at the V-12’s heel, replacing a structural panel seen on the V-10. These refinements give the V-12 a slightly more technical, streamlined aesthetic while the V-10 retains a classic, clean trainer silhouette.

Materials and construction

Fortunately, both models are available either with a premium, sustainably sourced leather upper or with VEJA’s water-repellent B-Mesh - created using 100% recycled polyester for those who prefer a lighter feel on foot. Beneath the surface, both pairs are lined with a blend of organic cotton and recycled plastic for breathability, while outsoles are composed of Amazonian rubber, rice waste and recycled rubber. The result is footwear that looks refined and performs responsibly — durable enough for daily wear yet considered in its material choices.

Once both pairs are on foot you’ll notice the biggest difference: the V-12 is noticeably narrower. If a snug, close-to-foot fit is what you prefer for everyday wear, we’d recommend the V-12 over the wider V-10. If you’re between sizes or unsure which profile suits you, try both — the difference in fit is the quickest way to decide, and many customers find the V-10 offers a roomier, more relaxed feel.

That said, we now offer Klarna and Openpay at tower-london.com, so why not try now and pay later? There’s no guidance like your own.

From establishing production in Brazil in 2005, to launching full-range running footwear in 2019, and even gracing members of the royal family in between, there’s very little VEJA can do wrong. With best intentions at heart, Sebastien Kopp and Francois-Ghislain Morillion continue to push sustainable footwear to its ethical limits, producing some of the best footwear available while staying true to their principles. Their ongoing commitment to transparent supply chains and responsible materials keeps these trainers relevant both ethically and stylistically.

You can now shop both styles above alongside a whole host of great VEJA product, at TOWER.
