What’s On This Weekend

Not got a ticket to Glastonbury? Feeling insanely jealous of everyone who has? We know the feeling. But instead of moping around, wishing you were knee-deep in mud, make the most of the weekend with our guide to what’s on this weekend in London.

Festival of love
Proving that romance isn’t just for Valentine’s Day, this weekend sees the start of the two month-long Festival of Love held at the Southbank Centre. An homage to all things love-themed, there will be a whole host of events, talks and exhibitions on to celebrate this humble feeling. Highlights include teenage fans of Justin Bieber and 1Direction discussing the idea of devotion when it comes to their idols, a workshop on how to write a love poem and a tour of the Museum of Broken Relationships.

Calling Festival
Like the idea of a festival but don’t want to stay in a smelly tent for the best part of a week? Then book your tickets to this weekend’s Calling Festival. Held on Clapham Common, this two day event boasts an incredible line-up which features the likes of Aerosmith, Stevie Wonder and Paloma Faith. Take that, Glastonbury. Tickets start at £69.50 per day.

Pride in London
Celebrating all things lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, Pride is hitting the streets of London for its annual parade and festival. Fun and friendly, Pride kicks off with a procession starting at Baker Street which will snake its way down to Trafalgar Square. Don’t expect the fun to stop there though: everyone from Sink the Pink to the London Gay Symphony Orchestra will be hosting a variety of events that are sure to suit all tastes.
