The PUMA Defy

The PUMA Defy | Not Just a Pretty Face

Launched on the 31st May, the PUMA  Defy is the brands latest release in collaboration with pop singer Selena Gomez, following on from previous silhouettes like the Phemon

Features on this female-only silhouette include textured knitted uppers, a zig-zag contrasting coloured pattern across the midsole and a slick PUMA formstripe adorning the side panels. The white colourway is further elevated with turquoise accents while the black keeps fully monochrome. Note the PUMA logo added onto the toe overlay, a nice touch

In a nod to current sneaker trends – and to PUMA’s much-loved platform creeper styles- the midsole on the Defy comes complete with added bulk

These elements combined make for a good-looking, minimalistic runner. Although, maybe more impressive is the functionality that backs the design. PUMA proudly states that the Defy is made especially to fit the female foot, “…making this shoe perfect for any female athlete”

So, to the technical. The outsole features traction points for multidirectional movement; ideal for dancers like Selena. A knitted upper ensures lightweight comfort and a good fit, while PROFOAM tech on the footbed and TUP pieces on the upper ensure overall support. All specs add up to a sneaker as functional and performance savvy as it is stylish
