Celebrate Bastille Day This Sunday


Head to Borough Market this Sunday and make the most of this annual event.

What: If you love all things French then Bastille Day is the event for you. A national holiday in France which marks the 1789 French Revolution, this annual celebration has morphed into an homage to the country’s best food, music and traditions.

What to expect: Capitalising on the growing numbers of French citizens who live in London, Bastille Festival welcome people of all nationalities for a day filled with food, music and street performances. Traditional French food from crepes to comet will be served in the Market while Vinopolis will be holding a cheese and wine masterclass. Magicians will be on hand to keep little ones entertained and a guillotine (provided by The London Tombs) will be chopping up fresh watermelons. The party will continue into the night thanks to a traditional open-air party – Bal Populaire which will last until 10.30pm.

Where: Held in Borough Market on Sunday (13th July), Bastille Festival can be easily accessed from Borough, London Bridge or Southwark Tube stations. The following buses will also take you there: 35, 47, 48, 149, 133, 21, 141, 43 and RV1.
