Est in 1996, the CAT Footwear Intruder was a silhouette built for the brands classically workwear market.
The silhouette made its first appearance on the fashion scene in 2015 when the brand collaborated with menswear designer Christopher Shannon. The limited edition collection received good reviews, paving the way for this years official re-launch.
Back for 2018, this collection couldn’t better be timed. New popping colourways revamp the bold profile of the Intruder, moving it away from a building site staple and further into the fashion lexicon. They sit nicely between two major footwear trends; the chunky silhouette and the hiker boot.
The three colourways available -
red, white and
black- are crafted from leather and nylon all sitting atop the Intruders crowing glory; a mega-chunky midsole and an outsole with an oversized tread. Details make the shoe feel premium and considered, with contrasting coloured taping on the tongue and ankle, top-stitch detailing and two-tone rope laces. Neon accents, while also a big trend, feel like a subtle nod to the silhouettes workwear past.
It was hard deciding a favourite out of the three colourways, though I’d probably go for the white. I’m a sucker for a gum sole and a white shoe.
